There has been a lot of talk about Studio 60 and whether it's going to make alive or not. So far, the network NBC has decided to give it a whole season, which is good since it has some hilarious and dramatic moments in it. Usually it's mistaken for a comedy show, when it really is more of a dramatic show with a touch of comedy. After all the series are about how it's behind the scenes of an SNL look-alike.

The acting.
The acting is impressive. Every role is nailed by the cast, especially the one by Mathew Perry. It gives a realistic idea and the delivery of the quick dialogues is perfectly right style due to the acting.
|
What's the plot?
No, I know the plot, but it feels like it's a very small one. What happens behind the scenes? How many times will we see that? It starts to get too much now. Same formula show in and show out.

The dialogue.
Studio 60 is written by Aaron Sorkin, who is known to have these quick, fun and smart dialogues in his creations. Studio 60 isn't an exception and even though it might seem a but unrealistic, I mean no one really can talk like that, it gives a nice little touch to the series. I fin myself sitting and awaiting the characters to deliver that final smart punch line.

They run around the studio all the time.
Why must the characters talk while walking around the studio building every time? Is that the only way they can communicate? It's pretty standard by now and while it was cute at the beginning it just seem annoying by now.

Insight on how it is behind the scenes.
The reality on how the TV-shows like SNL are created is probably not close to what is shown in Studio 60, but it's nice to believe isn't it? I like to think that's the way the shows are produced and that the cast has this much fine while creating them.

Not enough comedy.
I know it's not supposed to be a comedy, but you must have at least a bit more than it already has when you show how a comedy show is being made! The show has gone down the last couple of episodes just because the people want to see more comedy. Either that or Sorkin should go out in the middle of an episode and state clearly that Studio 60 is drama, cause few actually knows it.

Happy mood.
After almost every episode I watch I get that happy feeling, like it turns the mood up some levels. Studio 60 is clearly a feel-good series.

Harriet doesn't fit in.
For you that don't follow the series, Harriet is the one that's supposed to be the main star in Studio 60, the SNL-like show. Of course that would mean that Harriet should be funny, which she's not, and ultimately don't fit in.

Nice musical guests.
Three 6 Mafia and Sting are just two of the musical guests that joined Studio 60, especially in the beginning. Now it has faded out a bit, but I believe in their come back.
|
Old characters.
When it started the characters were perfect. Each one had a different personality; they delivered their quick and smart dialogues in a different way and had interesting character relationships. But again, can a whole series be kept alive by that? The same over and over again? We need something new.
